Putting confidence into your copy almost to the point of arrogance is pretty powerful stuff, and it works out great for a lot of people. We’ve had some pretty great clients, and they were amazing, wonderful, inspiring people – but their copy gave their target market the impression that they were… well, kind of a dick.
And if you’re starting out as a freelancer, then it’s a chance to get a writing sample (or two) and build your writing portfolio. Grab a copy of her 57 Timeless Pieces of Copywriting Advice ebook. Yeah, handwriting has its advantages, especially if you do a lot of “creative&# writing, such as novels, short stories, ad copy, blogging, etc. But then again, I know that my copywriting skills never seem to flag, and I credit that to the fact that I never have more than a few days go by without some sort of copy to write.
